In Full Bloom: Andrea Lofthouse-Quesada

The next incredible woman featured on the Client Appreciation Showcase Train is Andrea Lofthouse-Quesada (She's in the middle up there.) Andrea is an artist and an educator and is one of the sweetest people I know! She is so caring and passionate about her work, I could not resist jumping on board to work with her. I worked with Andrea on the FIRST paid project I ever did after leaving my full-time job. It was incredible:

The exhibition, Crossed Pollinations, at the Alhambra Civic Center Library, investigated the importance of nature in Chinese society--its cultural significance and the intimate relationships people have with it. The exhibit highlights the beauty of nature in China and seeks to catalyze a dialogue about conservation. As the Brand Director and Graphic Designer, I created all assets required for it's branding including the logo, look and feel, typography and colors and patterns. I also designed all of the supportive collateral and ephemera including postcards, posters, website, and the exhibition panels. Working and designing the panels using 4 different languages was a true challenge of distilling graphic communication to the very essence of our message. We wanted to create a feel for the brand that was broadly appealing, yet edgy and young…with the professional touch of a Museum-quality Exhibition. The meaning behind the name “Crossed Pollinations” lent itself well to the creative direction of the branding…the merging of old and new traditions in Chinese culture that travel and merge with the new to expand and unite our vast cultural community in Los Angeles and beyond.

Andrea has some pretty amazing things going on right now, and here's what she'd like you know:

Artist is Residence at Turning Point School in March

- Open-ended, collaborative art project for a K-8 independent school in Culver City inspired by global flower handicrafts and contemporary abstract artists.

Crossed Pollinations at the LA Environmental Education Fair

on March 11th

- Engaging visitors in an activity and the interactive Exhibition. Multilingual youth ambassadors will facilitate the project.

Research trip to China in April

- Preparing for a research trip to document flowers in two biodiversity hotspots: Mountains of Southwest China and Indo-Burma. Along the way, I'll conduct interviews and take photo portraits of people who protect nature or work as environmental stewards.

What do I do? What am I looking for?

  • I'm looking for partnerships with community organizations, educators, and scientists.

  • I design nature-inspired art and culture workshops and programming- museums, farmer's markets and libraries.

  • I produce site-specific, interdisciplinary projects which highlight beautiful flowers, cultural heritage, and language diversity.

If you are a part of the aforementioned group she is looking for, or wish to get in touch with Andrea, let me know and I will personally connect you. :)

Here are some of the things Andrea has been able to do through working with me:

  • Achieve brand elegance. My vision was so abstract. your talents got rid of the clutter. There is no way that I could have seen past all of the expectations and hopes that I had for my project. I think that's what I call intuition. you seem to navigate other people's huge hopes and existential desires while tapping into your immense visual vocabulary.

  • The creation of the physical exhibition. Its simplicity despite the many constraints and needs.

  • Obtain forward movement. I believe that your work was vital to my project's success. I needed visual assets and a website to work at a community scale (and global scale). You translated my work into those media.

Thank you for the work that you do Andrea and for being such an integral part of my Entrepreneurial Journey. You are amazing, and I am so honored to have been able to support you and your work in such a tremendous way. Gracias!
